Silence really is a killer

I have certainly missed my blogger friends over the past month or so but you will be pleased to know that I was distracted with a very good cause!

Ticking off my bucket list which included my long awaited project, self-publishing my very first book.  I can safely say it is now out there for the world to read. Wow what a journey it has been and a great reminder to anyone out there hesitant to turn their dream into reality due to the fear of the unknown, unless you give it a crack, you will never know!  So get out there and give it a go.

Equally if you would like a copy of my book, naturally titled: Challenge the Status Quo please go to: http://www.vividpublishing.com.au/challengethestatusquo/

Or if I can be of any assistance in helping you achieve your goal of self-publishing your book, please reach out!  I would love to hear from anyone who has gone through the process of self-publishing a book and what their experience was like.  Any tips you might give me going forward would also be highly regarded.

Here’s to stepping outside your comfort zone and reaping the success you deserve!

Have a great week.

Don’t let a system beat you!

Regardless of the obstacles before you, do not let a system stop you from achieving your goals.

A system is only as good as the next person who comes along with a strong belief and determination to challenge it. By challenging it, they change the course of not only their destiny but the destiny of those around them. As a society we do our best to adapt to the various systems implemented either by our governments, organisations or individuals. Some with good merit and others with odds that just don’t stack up or are out of our control, such as the forces of nature. However what I don’t believe is that a process cannot or should not be challenged, just because those in authority made it so. So why do most people settle for “sorry but we can’t help you” routine? Because most people:

  1. Would rather walk away from a confrontation.
  2. Give up too easily and settle for the status quo.
  3. Lack confidence to challenge a system – due to lack of knowledge/information or prior experience/exposure.

What we all need more of is confidence, the belief that we can change the outcome. Whether it’s to buy a new car or home, improve your health, get that dream job or change careers. We might have to tackle a system from several angles but as long as we are determined to see it through, we will succeed in challenging the status quo and achieving our goals.

As W. E. Hickson famously quoted: if at first you don’t success, try, try, try again.

Capitalising on your unique value proposition ‘you’

Rather than spending the rest of your days seeking out what other people think about you, you need to shift your focus to embracing your identity in this world. Yes you are unique as there is only one of ‘you’ and what you bring to this world matters a great deal.  Having the freedom to be you is a choice well within your power. Being true to you is very liberating, empowering and should not be sacrificed at the expense of others. It’s what integrity is all about. The amount of times I’ve heard the echo of people doubting themselves, feeling awkward, shy or different whether it’s their looks, dreams, ambitions or choices, is astounding. Having the freedom to be oneself in this lifetime is not only beneficial to you but positively impacts others around you as you live, behave and make choices that are in alignment with ‘you’.

Start shining with confidence and live by the unique values that make you…you.

Why criticism is good for the soul

Because it makes us challenge our ideas and offers us an opportunity to improve our work. It’s not always about seeking reinforcement that you are on the right track. You want to be challenged. How else are you going to be able to persuade the other party that your idea is going to work?

Don’t take criticism as a negative, but rather as a positive step towards your goals. Even if you don’t take a single piece of advice on board, at least it made you challenge your ideas and that is a good thing!

There is no time for second guessing

Regardless of the obstacles in front of you right now…. this very minute, all you need is HOPE.

Hope will ignite your passion in your darkest hour. It will keep you focused and determined. It will make you challenge the status quo in order to break those obstacles to smithereens!

Don’t waste your time second guessing a dream just because others may have put limitations on them. Scrap those people, find another avenue and go for it, your time is NOW!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the gorgeous mums around the world.

Have a great week.

Excuses are for losers

Ninety-nine percent of the failures comes from people who have the habit of making excuses. – George W. Carve

Ok harsh, but certainly fair. I can absolutely accept a person failing as a result of trying their hardest and exhausting all possible avenues BUT what drives me mad is when people accept failure…..defeat before even giving it a go. How crazy is that?

If you find yourself making a lot of excuses, rather than just getting on with your goals, be brutally honest with yourself by asking whether you are merely avoiding the “too hard” basket of tasks needing to be done? Which resulted in excuses after excuses. If this is the case, you are probably allowing self-doubt to creep in and take over your mindset. Or, you might need a good kick up the backside to get you back on track!

Take control of your confidence and kick self-doubt in the guts with some positive self-talk in order to stay on track. Reassurance is critical, along with surrounding yourself with positive and encouraging people such as a mentor. The main takeaway is that you need to do the WORK as excuses are for losers.
